Re: Error while opening sound device. Please check the input

The settings that worked for me was placing both i/o settings onto "Asla default". Great stuff, that's how it's supposed to work :D However, under "audio device info" I get a blank field. No information whatsoever, no checklist. Is that normal? No idea why that should be, I get ...

Re: Error while opening sound device. Please check the input

I had exactly the same frustration myself, but once you've got it sussed it's no problem at all.

Did you look in "Help > Audio Device Info" and did that help at all?
What settings made it work for you?

Re: Waveform not symmetrical

Some old record players had a "line out" or e "tape out" or some other output that was at "Line level", sometimes on a 5 pin DIN connector, but some did not. I'm guessing from your response that yours has not. Unless you're a bit keen on practical electronics I'd not re...

Re: Error while opening sound device. Please check the input

Aaargh.... the curse of the Linux sound system. Usually you should set the recording device and playback device to ALSA(default) This is set in "Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O" Also you need to set the sample rate to match your hardware - this is usually 44100 Hz or 48 kHz This is set in &...

Re: So you say Audacity is a Unicode application?

It does crash when you try to export it in FLAC format. Didn't crash for me - just wouldn't import it. The very simple workaround is to just rename the files using ISO-1 compatible characters and everything works again This is not possible. I have hundreds of files that reside in hundreds of folder...

Re: Amplifying

Try opening or importing an audio file into Audacity - does it play? If it does, then that's half of it sorted - so now to recording: Look for the section on this page that is relevant to your operating system http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_Issues The correct place to sel...

Re: So you say Audacity is a Unicode application?

Jee... I'm beginning to understand what happened! You booted up Windows XP to check if the bug is really there. Since you didn't install Japanese support, you saw four Cyrillic characters (which do not require any specific installation) and three squares instead of those Japanese characters. "...

Re: Importing from PC to multi-track recorder

You need to consult your Fostex manual. Some multi-track recorders allow you to import and export WAV files, but some do not. If you can import and export, you may still have a problem getting everything to line up correctly. Hard disk recorders will often import and export full audio tracks (starti...
