Re: import & export of tracks
So unless somebody stops me, you can't do this. Hopefully not too late for my cue :D Professional DAW's are able to import WAV files and we are able to export WAV files from Audacity. We can even export single tracks as WAV files by select a track and choosing "Export Selection". The prob...
Re: Looping
Or "Shift + Left Click" on the play button if you prefer.
You can also still use the pause button (or the "P" key) to pause the loop playback.

Re: importing WMA files to audacity
Does it play in anything? Windows Media Player? WinAmp? Foobar2000?
If you right click on the file, select "Properties", go to the "Summary" tab and select "Advanced", what does it say? (please copy and post everything that it says, or post a screen shot).

Re: Horrible Screeching Sounds on my imported tracks
i have the same problem I bet you don't but its with mp3 files not video. I was right - not the same problem. in audacity its whenever the bass hits. Probably distortion - is the waveform reaching the top and bottom of the track (+1.0 to -1.0)? If so, reduce the recording volume. If not, then it is...

Re: Unable to record using XPPro
but for some, the driver supplied by the manufacturer is brain-damaged in that it won't allow this to happen? Lol - that's about right :D Would it work to take the line-out and feed it into the line-in? Would the sound card be able to record the line in at the same time as playing a random audio st...

Re: Unable to record using XPPro
Is there any way to determine whether a particular system/sound card can do streaming audio recording or not before buying the system and then finding out it's deficient? This is a problem with Laptops - since it is down to the driver whether or not it has this functionality, there is really no way...

Re: VST plugins
Do a search for "audacity.cfg" If you still can't find it then you may need to show hidden folders.

Re: Almost Finished Edit Now Has Big Holes in the Waveform!H
organization's downside -- I did move things around and put them in discrete folders, alas -- This gives you a one-shot chance of recovery that may or may not work. In the location where you originally saved to project (let's say it was the Desktop), put the project file (has an extension of .aup -...

Re: Horrible Screeching Sounds on my imported tracks
Audacity does not support video or video files. The horrible loud screeching sound over the soundtrack is the picture. There are various ways you can "extract" the audio track: 1) Digital extraction - this is the better method as it is quicker and the sound quality may also be a bit better...
