Re: Audacity windows>mac (?)

When you have recorded on your Laptop, "Export" as a WAV file, and open the WAV file on your iMac.
WAV files are lossless and easy to move from one machine to another,
Audacity Projects can easily break and become unusable if you try to move them.

Re: Making an incomprehensible speech more comprehensible

Using Equalisation you can filter out some of the banging in the background. The second clip actually has some words missing, so it is impossible to ever hear them: "When I count to three I'm going to snap my fingers and you'll <squeak> powerful with women from now on" I think the first on...

Re: Advice for recording vocals for music tracks

The approach that I try to take is: 1) Start with a good source 2) Try not to mess it up too much. Perhaps a bit simple, but it gets to the core of the matter. Example - for a good electric bass sound: 1) Start with an electric bass, someone to play it and a bass amp - adjust whatever is necessary t...

Re: reducing the size of an MP3 file

To Export as a mono mp3, mix down the track to mono before you export. This will make the mp3 about half the size of a stereo mp3. To convert to mono (Audacity 1.3.4): If your tracks have been "Normalised" or Amplified to 0 dB, then you will need to reduce the level a little. Use the volum...

Re: 1.3.4 used to work. won't open. reinstalled-still won't

The first thing that I would try, is resetting Audacity 1.3.4 by deleting the configuration file. The file is called "audacity.cfg" and its default location is: Documents and Settings <user name> Application DataAudacity audacity.cfg Audacity will create a fresh configuration file when you...

Re: clciking sound and recording slow

Please post in the appropriate forum for you operating system and version of Audacity.
Please do not post the same message multiple times as it clogs up the forum and no one will know which of your posts to reply to.
