Unfortunately the tracks can not be split. As you say, it is a mono mp3.

Re: Changing MP3 to lame MP3
It is not generally a good idea to repeat mp3 compression - you have already got some audio quality loss with your 192 kbps mp3's, which you will compound by decoding the file and re-compressing. If you really MUST do it, You could do a batch process using the Audacity 1.3.4 "Chains" featu...

Re: Alesis Multimix-8 USB 2.0
It could be a driver issue. Some multi-channel devices use multiple (stereo) drivers to achieve multi-channel recording, but Audacity can only access one driver at a time. Hopefully this is not the case (there's nothing you can do about it if it is). The other possibility is that for multi-channel u...

Re: Other tracks are recorded on new track
Most likely your ALSA mixer settings. Make sure that ONLY the input that you want to use is enabled for recording (probably "Line in" or "Mic in")

Re: recording sound drop off
My guess is a low quality soundcard, or perhaps a USB headset - what are you using?

Re: Delay Between Cursor and Audio
I don't get that problem. My system: Pentium III 500MHz SoundBlaster Live Value TNT2 video card Win XP Pro SP2 Direct X 9c What do you have the "audio buffers" set to in "Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O"? What results do you get from running the "Benchmark" from the Help...

Re: Recording speed issue with Audacity
The ASIO driver for your hardware is most likely fixed at 48 kHz. No it does not explain a difference between v.1.2.6 and 1.3.4 (did you say there was a difference?) If there is a difference, it may be due to different versions of portaudio, or it may be an unfathomable mystery (at least for us mort...

Re: To Undo... or not Undo... that is the question.
This is no big deal right now... Wow, that's fortunate. :) When you close Audacity, it zaps all of its temporary files, just copying the ones necessary for the project into the data folder - hence "undo's" are gone. What you need to do to keep your original tracks is to "undo" a...

Re: Recording speed issue with Audacity
It is quite common for hardware to have a fixed sample rate - in this case probably 48 kHz. If the hardware is asked for a different sample rate, then it's possibly that the driver re-samples the signal on the fly, but is doing so at low resolution so as to keep up with the data, which could account...

Re: Changing track emphasis
Hi, I have recording (from a cassette tape) that I would like to bring up the voice on, and bring down the orchester. The vocal seems to more on the left track, and the orchestra on the right. Is there a way I can change this balance? Thanks, ...... John Record the track into Audacity as a Stereo f...
