Auto duck
I can't get "Auto duck" to work. I understand what it should do, and I'm trying to follow these instructions: http://www.audacityteam.org/manual/index.php?title=Auto_Duck but I just keep getting the error message "Please enter valid values". Any suggestions? (Audacity 1.3.4 Windo...

Re: Stereo to Mono causes crash HELP!!
Am I doing something wrong? No - it's a bug. Very few bugs remain in 1.3.4, but that one does. Do your project in stereo as you suggested, then at the end mix it down to a stereo file. You now have one long stereo file. Amplify the track to a peak of -6 dB (minus six) Click on the little down point...

Re: reboot on starting Autacdity 1.2.6
There are very very few Win2k users that come to this forum (you are only the second one that I've seen).
Try Audacity 1.3.4 and see if that is any better.

Re: Inability to record
This is a limitation of the audio device driver - it seems that some manufacturers thought it would be fun to cripple the audio device in this way (DRM panic?)
If you are luck, there will be an updated driver that fixes it - if you're not luck, then you're out of luck.

Re: mixing unmixed tracks on audacity from 4 trk recorder? h
Is this a cassette recorder, a flash recorder, or other? Are you actually "Recording", or "Importing Files"?
(Seems you have a sample rate mis-match somewhere, just trying to narrow down where)

Re: Distortion pops up after recording awhile
My guess - you're using a USB turntable. Check out the forum, you're not alone, loads of USB turntables have this problem. If this is correct, try using a different USB port, try using a powered hub, try taking it back to the shop for replacement, try using the analogue output instead of the USB.

Re: Awful Quality After Exporting
I've not had this problem, probably because I never use such low sample rates, but I'd suggest that you convert all the files to 44.1 kHz / 16 bit before you start, and that should fix all the problems including FLAC Export.

Re: How do I do these? : Normalize, trim silence, fade, and
Step 3 cannot be done as a batch as apply "fade out" or "fade in" will process the entire file, not just the ends. (Audacity does not know how much of the file you want to fade, so it assumes that it is the complete file). More information about batch processing here: http://www....

More detail required - How have you got Audacity set up? (bit depth, sample rate etc.) Then give an exact step by step walk through of what you are doing.

Re: Lossless export/import of 16bit WAV
I think that Audacity 1.3 works internally at 32 bit, which for "normal" music use offers higher precision. However, down sampling to 16 bit can create a slight "crackling effect" during quiet passages, so by default, Audacity will apply "dithering" when it exports to 1...
