Yes. The help file is no longer included with the default installation, however you can get it here: http://audacityteam.org/help/documentation

Re: Applying Notch Filter ???

When you have minimized the hum as much as possible, if some hum still remains, the "Noise Removal" effect in Audacity 1.3.4 is probably the best tool to use.

Re: Equalizing a SELECTION not working

I think Koz was answering "No" to the question "Is there a sequence of tools and/or settings that are recommended for restoring clarity to an MP3?" On the whole I would agree with him. Converting an uncompressed sound to MP3 essentially makes the file size smaller by throwing awa...

Re: multitrack recording with audacity, mixer and computer

This is difficult to answer because we don't know which version of Audacity you are using, what your operating system is, or what you have got connected to what. Assuming that you have everything set up correctly, you need to go to "Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O" and select "play bac...

Is 1.3 still Beta? Is it stable? Yes 1.3 is still beta Yes 1.3 is stable (on most machines) - the main exceptions are on Macs if they use 24 bit audio, and on Ubuntu 8.04. As neither of these apply to you you should find it rock solid apart from possibly one known bug (converting from stereo to mon...

Re: Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron - lots of bugs

There is a package that exists for Feisty Fawn that I used, I figured any incompatibility issues I'd have between versions could be patched much easier than the issues I was having with Audacity. The package manager handled it fine although it did strongly recommend that I use the later version, wh...

Have a go with the SC4 - I think it's in the main LADSPA plugin pack on the main Audacity site. There's a very brief guide to what each setting does here: http://plugin.org.uk/ladspa-swh/docs/ladspa-swh.html#tth_sEc2.93 For a starting point, try these settings and then experiment: RMS/peak: 0 (also ...

Re: Converting Stereo files to mono with right bit-rate

Audacity uses 32 bit internally, so if Pro-Tools does as well, then that's great - use 32 bit float.
Also, Macs often have problems with 24 bit, so probably best to avoid it.

It's usually accessed by double clicking on an icon in the bottom right hand corner of the screen (near the clock)
