Re: Ubuntu 8.04 troubles? Try audacity 1.3.5
I'm not sure if it's due to something I've changed, or due to something being updated in (X)ubuntu (I suspect it is the latter) but Audacity 1.3.4 is working much better now - I've even managed to use real-time effects with Audacity connected to Jack Rack. Connecting it up is a pain because Audacity...

Re: Monitoring using USB mic...delay in headphone playback
I have software playthrough checked, and I'm sure that's why I have latency in the playback... Spot on. Software playthrough is much slower than hardware playthrough, hence the delay. If I uncheck it and just use hardware playthrough, I get no signal at all out of my headphones...... is the answer ...

Re: Best way to join multiple tracks
I have found it much easier to get bits to meet up neatly with Audacity 1.3.4 as it gives a visual clue (a yellow vertical line) when the ends of sound clips meet.

Re: "CUT" option doesn't work
Try selecting the area that you want to remove by clicking on the track with the right mouse button, then dragging along the track. You should see the area become highlighted. Then press "Ctrl K" to delete the highlighted area (or select "Delete" from the Edit Menu). So that you ...

Re: Applying Notch Filter ???
Unless you have magnified the vertical scale, that still looks like quite a lot of hum, and complete removal may not be possible. Make sure that you have a sample of hum that is COMPLETELY absent of any music (sample it before you put the stylus on the record). Try adjusting the noise reduction sett...

Re: Help link failure
Rats - sorry, done it again - getting confused between 1.2 and 1.3
Anyway, you can still get the manual using the link I provided (I doubt that you will often refer to it once you've been using Audacity for a bit).

Re: DELETING 'OLDER' FILES
There will be various "Recent Files" lists on your computer, but mostly they work in the same way: They are not actually "files", but as it says on the tin, they are "lists" of files that have been used recently. Each list is usually less than 10 items long, and more re...

Re: Editing songs in ITunes
Thanks for the response. I was able to convert the file to a .wav but when I hit play in Audacity, I still get the screeching sound that lasts about 1 second- I can't hear the song at all It has not converted properly. I think that you should be able to export as WAV directly from iTunes, but If yo...

Re: How to get Audacity to work with Digi002R/core audio
Are you trying to use ASIO drivers? (I think most DigiDesign stuff uses ASIO by default, but Audacity is not compatible with ASIO due to licensing restrictions.

Re: Recording Music to an interview
If you use "Import" to get the sounds into Audacity, all should be fine.
If you still have problems, please state if you are using 1.2.6 or 1.3.4
