Use Audacity 1.3.5 this has an option to turn off the Metatag window.

I'm not sure if I understand your question correctly, but if you apply an effect and you don't like the result, the you "undo" it (Edit menu > Undo).

Cassette tapes will gradually fade over time, loosing bass and treble first, and replacing it with hiss.
Vinyl on the other hand, if stored flat and at a reasonable temperature, will last for centuries.

Check the settings in iTunes and see if it is compressing the files. Are the files the same size after importing into iTunes as they were before they were imported?

My guess would be the VST enabler. If you can live without VST effects in Audacity it will probably work.

How very surprising :shock: It is almost a valid WAV file, but there's some weird stuff in it. I don't know enough about it to give you a definitive answer, but it seems to have some XML data embedded in it (courtesy of Adobe). Whatever they have done to it is just enough to upset Audacity on Window...
