Audacity is able to "guess" ogg and flac files correctly, so you could try those extensions.

Re: Blind user asks for help with tracks' editing
Update from my last post. I was using Audacity 1.3.5 on Windows XP, and that gets stuck on the Selection Toolbar when using ontrol and F6, or Control Shift F6. I've just reinstalled Audacity 1.3.4 on Windows XP, and it works as Gale described. I don't know exactly how this feature will be read by JA...

Re: Blind user asks for help with tracks' editing
Oops sorry, the F7 was my typing error, it should have been F6. I have now corrected it in my previous post. On Linux with Audacity 1.3.4, Control F6 will take me from the Selection Toolbar to the track area, but then it is stuck in the track area. Control Shift and F6, does however work correctly. ...

Re: noise removal not working anymore
It is possible that you audacity.cfg file has become corrupted. The default location is: Documents and Settings<user name>Application DataAudacityaudacity.cfg Try deleting (or renaming) that file - it will be recreated the next time you open Audacity, and effectively gives you a "fresh out of t...

Re: Cant only record from built in microphone
Laptop, on-board sound card and Vista are often a troublesome combination. You may be able to enable other inputs from the Windows Control Panel.
Also, have a look at this page and see if there is anything that helps: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... bar_Issues

If it recording OK with a microphone, then it sounds like the turntable has developed a fault. Is it a USB turntable by any chance?

If you have to use the backup copy, you will be glad that it is in WAV format. If your backup copy is an MP3, then you have lost a bit of sound quality before you have done anything.cowboy wrote:back to your suggestions, why save the backup as a WAV vs MP3 ?

Re: Syncing Separately Recorded Stereo WAV Files
What you are wanting to do is possible as long as the two machines do not drift too much. I recommend using Audacity 1.3.4 or 1.3.5 for this as it has a number of improved functions that make it easier to move things around on the time line (and several other extras as well). Unlike tape machines, d...

Re: Blind user asks for help with tracks' editing
I'm using audacity 1.3.5 beta. In which does it affect the cutting/pasting procedures? I was thinking of various ways of achieving the result that you were after, but in the end I settled on a method that works the same in both versions. One of the major differences between version 1.3.4 and 1.3.5 ...

Re: Bug report
I guess this is a bit trickier for you as a blind user, but you need to try to have just one instance of Audacity open at one time. When you have finished working on one project and want to start working one a new on, close down Audacity completely before you open the new project. This has the added...
