Re: 1.2.6 and two sound cards

Quite so koz. And multi-layer circuit boards (commonly used in computer hardware) are a lot more tricky to work on than single layer boards. I disagree with the author of that article in one respect, in that I prefer to use quite a hot soldering iron and use it quickly. It's easy to destroy componen...

Re: How can I get Audacity to tell me what format a file is?

If you can get access to a Windows machine, there is a program called SUPER by erightsoft that should be able to tell you exactly what format the files are. It is also a very good format converter for a huge number of media format types (audio and video).

Re: recording sound drop off

but there does appear to still be some kind of AGC that kicks in after about 3 seconds (that you describe... once the background noise is gone, it's gone unless the threshold/ceiling is broken) built into the sigmatel audio hardware that have not found a way to toggle. If you find a way to switch t...

(I have a similar problem with the singer in one of my bands - how to prevent him from blasting everything into the red as he ... um... emphasizes certain moments. :D

Re: Can't select recording device

When i go to 'Edit - Preferences - Audio I/O', I am able to select a playback device (Speaker/HP: Realtek high definition), but when I click on the box in the 'Recording Device' section, the box is empty... It looks like Vista is hiding the recording inputs. Have a look at this page: http://audacit...

Re: Beta Version Won't Open (Windows XP)

I've noticed that it will sometime happen if I click clumsily on the Audacity Icon and do a multiple click by accident, causing more than one instance of Audacity to open. In such a case, a single instance is shown on the task bar, and it can not be opened as a window (permanently minimized). Pressi...

Re: Clipfix (see waveform pic) - plugins available?

purely from a mathematical point of view I see potential in the graphs of my first post. It has to be possible to reconstruct those sines if it's possible to reconstruct your example. I mean, in your graphs there is a flat max-signal at the clipping point; replace the bad (sudden negative) data poi...

Re: Recording Fine - Playback Garbled

You need to enable recording of "Stereo Mix", and disable recording from the microphone.
Record with a minimum sample format of 44.1 kHz 16 bit, and Export your recording as a WAV file.

Re: Change Pitch

The "Change Speed" effect will change both pitch and duration, but the "Change Pitch" effect should keep the duration the same. In Audacity 1.3.4, you could use "Split New" to move the bit that you want to change to a new track, then you can treat it in away you like wi...
