Re: Audacity 2.4.2 download infected with Trojan virus

"Unknown Publisher. This file does not have a valid digital signature that verifies its publisher". - I wonder why? You probably need to update Windows. It looks like somehow 2.4.2 does not properly override 2.3.0. You have probably installed the two versions in different directories. You...

Re: recording issues

I tried that it amplified blanc noise nothing else. That's good. It shows that Audacity is recording correctly. The problem is that Audacity isn't receiving audio from your mic. Open the "Sound settings dialog" from the Windows Sound control panel (See: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man...

Re: Recording clipping at 0.5 (-6 dB)

The sound wave is clipped at 0.5, whatever I do it in mono or stereo (and in stereo I get two identical waves). I get this problem if I plug a SoundBlaster computer mic into the mic input socket. The problem (in my case, and it sounds as if it's the same for you) is that the audio input is wired fo...

Re: FFT analysis — mark length and size

what is the influence of (window)size? A single point of a waveform has no "frequency", it only has "amplitude" at that point in time. "Frequency" only has meaning in relation to time (the number of cycles per second). FFT analysis looks at blocks of samples, and analy...

Re: Best Practices for Structure of a Project

Should I resample the audio and change to 16 bit PCM when I start the project or should I wait until after all the editing is completed and do the conversion at the time I export the completed files? It will make very little difference whether you change the sample rate at the start or at the end. ...

Re: Lame buit-in is not compatible with older-lame version

only Audacity v2.4.2 can't open this file Think of it another way: Audacity 2.4.2 refuses to import the file, because it knows the file is malformed. For an audio player, it doesn't really matter if a file is malformed - the worst that can happen is that the file does not play correctly (or at all)...
