Re: Change voice freq. without changing rec. length
If you are using Windows or Mac, use "Effects > Change Pitch".

Re: Program has stopped recording sound all of a sudden!
It could be that you have recently changed something else on your computer, for example installing another program - fairly common culprits are VST plugins, if you have the "VST enabler" installed in Audacity. It could also be that the Audacity configuration file has got messed up. You can...

Re: Can't Record Voice
Hi Claire, I hope you have the time to stick with this, but it sounds like things have got in a bit of a muddle since the last time you did any microphone recording, so I'd like to start at the beginning and then we can work our way through. (The alternative is that we could take some blind guesses,...

Re: Audacity Voice Converter/Sound to Voice Converter
Have a play with the following plug-ins and effects: Change speed (built in effect) Change tempo (built in effect) vocoder (nyquist plug-in) Auto-duck (built in effect) Pitch scaler (LADSPA plug-in) Ring Modulator (LADSPA plug-in) That lot should give you plenty of scope for creative voice mangling ...

Re: High Frequency Tones
I think the highest sample rate that Audacity can presently use is 96 kHz, which gives you a max frequency of about 45 kHz, but it is no way representative of a sine wave. Even if Audacity used higher sample rates, your sound card would not be able to handle them. You are probably better to use an a...

Re: 1.3.4.0 Always crashes at approx. 10.3secs recording
"Ghosts"? This is the first mention of spooks :o :D I seem to vaguely remember seeing a mention of something similar ages ago - I'll have a look and see if I can find it. Perhaps one of the other regular forum people may remember something about this. PLEASE NOTE: I HAVE TO ATTEND TO OTHER...

Re: Minor interface bugs (Trim and Split New)
I'll add the Split New problem to the Wiki Release Checklist Thanks. this bug has been in Audacity a long time without anyone noticing, I've checked it in the Linux (Ubuntu) version of Audacity 1.3.4 and the "Split New" function does not move the clips. In fact it behaves the same whether...

Re: importing .wav files
Audacity is happy with "normal" PCM WAV files, but not all WAV files are born equal: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WAV#WAV_file_compression_codecs_compared (Also, just because a file has a ".WAV" extension does not mean that it is a wav file.) It's quite rare for cameras to record...
