Re: Tracks not lining up, when recorded in time with each ot
Other tips....? Hmmm To help get the latency correction correct (spot on): Record a short click track through your mixer onto track 1 - since you play drums, "stick clicks" are good. Now take the output from your sound card, and instead of sending it to your headphones/speakers, send it ba...

Re: I simple question about guitars
Everyone wants a plug-in to do everything, when all they need is technique. ;) I presume (from reading some of your previous posts) that this is Rock. I's generally best not to make the stereo image too wide - consider what happens if it is played in mono, or if it is played in a bar in stereo and h...

Re: Heavy Metal Distortion
How refreshing it is to read a guitarist recommend keeping the amount of distortion down. Too much distortion destroys all dynamics, tone, and the guitar, so all you hear is digital noise. Heavy metal guitar needs far less distortion than many guitarist realise. I'm not sure if I agree with the Eq s...

Windows XP and Vista
We seem to be getting an increasing number of "Vista specific" questions.
Would it be a good idea to have a board dedicated to Audacity on Vista, or perhaps a child board to the Windows board?

Re: Guidance on using Forum
I think this an excellent subject to raise. Many users of this forum are first-time users of any forum and can easily feel lost, intimidated, or just unsure of what to do. On the other hand, for the frequent visitor, it can be quite frustrating to see posts on completely the wrong board, "inter...

Re: Audacity.exe encounters an error and aborts
I am trying to install Audacity on a XP Pro PC on a domain. The first thing that comes to mind is that Audacity 1.2.x uses the Windows Registry, Audacity 1.3.x does not. Until Audacity 1.4 comes out, I think that version 1.3.4 is probably your best bet - I find it rock solid (and it has a lot of im...

Re: Delay in recording
Software playthrough always introduces a delay - disable it.
You need to figure out a way to monitor through hardware, not software. How to do this depends on your hardware - most soundcards allow you to set it up in their mixer application (or the Microsoft Windows Mixer).

Re: vista problem????
so i upgraded to a different version and then i could hear sound playback..but no sound playback through my headphones in recording mode So this is now an Audition 1.3.x problem? Go into "Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O" and check that you have the correct output device selected. Note that...

Re: Noise removal one more time
If Audacity plays an audio file and there is no hiss, then there is no hiss. If another program plays the same file and you hear hiss, then something must be creating the hiss. Audacity does no have any kind of "automatic hiss suppression", it will only remove hiss if you tell it to (for e...
