Re: Background tone generated during recording

Re: Need help getting started!

It's been a long time since I've used Win98, but here goes.... My first step in trying to transfer a cassette to my pc is to click FILE : Save Project As. That brings up a Warning box ; I click OK and then get a box labelled Save Project As. Did you read the warning message? That message explains th...

Re: Record from mixer to laptop

I'm trying to record from my mixer, NUO4, to my laptap from Mic-in.The input is to loud... That's not surprising. Microphone inputs are about 1000 times more sensitive than line level. The best option for a laptop is to get a line input that you can plug in. PCMCIA sound cards tend to be very expen...

Re: Unable to Adjust Record Level

I have been using Audacity 1.3.0-b Wow that's an old version. The current beta version is 1.3.5. The current version for Ubuntu is 1.3.4. I've had a look on Google, but 1.3.0-b seems to be the most "up-to-date" RPM available for RedHat. The slider next to the micophone icon changes the so...

Re: How to Cut a Stream into 5 min. Tracks

Re: recording problem

Also, some headsets have "enhancement" features built in that can make a mess of your recordings. Best to get that condenser mic up and running as soon as you can.

Re: "Livening up" Vinyl Recordings

the top end of the frequency spectrum seems subdued and the entire recording a little down on volume when compared to just ripping CDs to my hard disc. Should I do some equalising or try to boost volume levels somehow? Get Audacity 1.3.x (beta) - it has much better EQ than v.1.2.6, but as beta soft...

Re: Using multiple mics

Can't help thinking the RIAA is behind the continual erosion in drivers supporting stereo mix, somehow..... "Stereo Mix" does make it easy to make pirate copies of some types of copyright material and DRM for audio can be easily bypassed. I think that manufacturers are being cautious to a...

What if you export as WAV?
