Re: Use command line to open .pcm file
Apparently Apple Quick Time, Audition and Cool Edit Pro support ".pcm" files. You may also have some joy with SUPER from e-right soft. Since you are probably referring to RAW audio files with a PCM extension, you should be able to import them into Audacity, but not without passing paramete...

Re: Exporting loop points to WAV
Another potential problem with loop point support, is that it would really need to be in one of the common formats, such as "Acidized", "Groove Clips" or "Audio Warp". If it was not compatible with any of these, then it would be of limited usefulness to anyone. Unfortun...

Re: SERATO RECORDING HELP!!!
Have a look at the "Setting up Audacity" section on this page: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Transferring_tapes_and_records_to_computer_or_CD One of the most common stumbling blocks that people have is setting up their (Windows?) Mixer application, so you mat also want to lo...

Re: Recording sounds fine until exported...
So if you "Import" a WAV file into Audacity, (for example the test files that koz posted earlier), does it sound the same or different to if you play it in your media player? What Media Player are you using?

Re: BWAV files and Audacity, and conversion to MPEG3
Is that the same as BWF format? Audacity 1.3.3 and later can import BWF files.
Audacity can export MP3 files with the aid of LAME

Re: "Livening up" Vinyl Recordings
Is it the "Xitel INport" that you are using? From Google, that looks like it should be reasonably good as well, so I would go along with WC's suggestions (clean stylus, clean record, correct tracking weight, test direct etc.)

Re: Use command line to open .pcm file
That is not a valid file type for audacity. Do you mean .wav ?
The only command-line arguments Audacity takes are the names of audio files to open. If you specify multiple files on the command-line, Audacity will import all of them into the same project.

Re: Fading Volume While Recording
This is not an Audacity feature.
What is your recording setup?
If you are using a headset device, it could be that. Some headsets have an "Auto Gain" feature built in.

Re: grayed out input selector box, again
Is the headset USB? If so, then it is a completely different audio device to your sigma tel sound card. In Audacity "Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O" select the audio device that you want to use. In he bottom right corner of your screen near the clock you should see a loudspeaker icon. From...
