Re: Background tone generated during recording

But that's all the ION device is: a turntable, connected to pre-amp, comnnected to a Soundcard, delivering its output via USB. It's just all contained in one box, rather than separates Absolutely - but how many stability problems have we seen on this forum with standalone Audio>USB devices? I can't...

Re: Bass player seeks advice

<<<Unless the bass part is positioned dead center in the stereo mix>>> That's not entirely true, either.... Tut tut koz, quoting me out of context :D Unless the bass part is positioned dead center in the stereo mix, you can not remove it that way. (referring to using the "center pan remover&qu...

Re: Recording problems

The recording level was barely viewable on the screen or audible. "barely viewable" So it was recorded, but just very quiet? This is probably going to be easier to fix with your old headset if it was non-USB. Let's have a go with that first and we can go onto the USB headset later. Assumi...

Re: Bass player seeks advice

Cutting out the vocals only works if the vocals are dead center of the stereo mix - even then, any stereo reverb will still remain. The so called "vocal remover" just removes audio that is identical on both left and right channels (which is sometimes the vocals). Unless the bass part is po...

Re: Blind user asks for help with tracks' editing

At the bottom of this page you'll find some recent Audacity packages for Ubuntu: Just a quick note on that - the current version of Ubuntu is "Hardy Heron" (8.04) and the official release build of Audacity is 1.3.4 I have tried the 1.3.5 build, but it is not at all happy on Ubuntu 8.04 an...

Re: No Wave Form, USB Audio Codec missing

We may not be able to fix this in one go, but first things first. You must connect the turntable and allow it to initialize before you start up Audacity. When you plug in the turntable, do you get a USB indication icon in the sys tray near the clock? If you do, then open Audacity and go to "Edi...

Re: Adjust Clip Boundries (Workaround?)

I'm not sure if I understand correctly what you are asking for, but if you use the Envelope Tool, you can silence a section of a track, and this can be adjusted later as it is a non-destructive edit. Alternatively, you can make a copy of the track and mute the original, then if you change your mind,...

Re: Background tone generated during recording

It's more likely that the USB turntable is the source. Not from the turntable itself, but from its USB connection. We have seen a lot of USB turntables with strange problems like this. It seems that many of them are right on the threshold between working perfectly and not working at all. Sometimes a...
