Re: Connect a microphone directly to spekers(used in compute
You mean so that you can talk into the microphone and the sound will come out through the computer speakers (like a mini PA system)? Open the Windows Mixer, enable the microphone for both recording and playback and that's it - but watch out for feedback (sound from the speakers being picked up by th...

Re: Plugin template
Audacity supports both Nyquist and LADSPA plugins. For Nyquist plug-ins you need nothing more than a text editor (preferably one with parenthesis matching). http://audacityteam.org/help/nyquist At present I known very little about LADSPA plug-ins, but here is the relevant home page: http://www.ladsp...

Re: Is there an esay way....
As long as you want the inserted silence at the same place in each track, then yes you can. In Audacity 1.3.4 SHIFT+CTRL+F = fit tracks vertically (so that you can see all the tracks - can also be done from the View Menu) Click on the place in the top track where you want to insert the silence. Hold...

Re: I can't play back what I have recorded
What is your set-up Ladybiird10? What version of Linux? What version of Audacity? Is Audacity a standard install from the repository, or have you installed it by some other means? What Mixer are you using (ALSA?). Does your sound system work with other programs? Can you play MP3's in other programs?...

Re: Preamp microphone or a plug and play
A "Behringer XENYX 1204FX mixing desk", a "T-Bone MB85 beta", and a few leads should fit your budget and allow scope for future expansion, and give you some hardware effects as well. The mixing desk has great features, good sonic quality and remarkably well built for the price. I...

Re: Delay during recording
Could be solution not to connect guitar straight to the computer but at first to the amplifier and from amplifier to the comp? There are several ways to do it, and that is one of them. If you are using a conventional sound card, then another way to do it is to use the sound cards mixer application ...

Re: voice recording saved as mp3 sounds garbly
Sorry folks, this confusion may be my fault. When I said "If possible, record as WAV" I was referring to: I used Audacity (for the first time) to edit a radio talk show I host that was recorded at 150 kbps. After editing, I resaved as a 128 kbps MP3 What I meant was, that whenever possible...

Re: Non USB PC microphone issues
It's plugged into the socked that looks like a microphone, This is the thing that I would double check. If the sockets are color coded, the color is usually pink for a microphone socket. Is the computer a laptop or desktop? Do you get anything at all (even a very quiet signal) when you try to recor...

Another option is to export as FLAC (about half the size of a WAV, and lossless).

Re: Delay during recording
It is probably caused by having "software playthrough" selected in "Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O".
