Re: Audacity don't recording cassettes anymore

Well there's good news in this - it looks like there is very little wrong. Am I correct in saying that the problem is that when you record, the recording comes out far too loud and therefore badly distorted? Also that you are recording from the same cassette player that you have used previously and ...

Re: Ringtone Questions LG CU515

As I don't work for the manufacturer, I have no access to any details about your phone than are in the specifications, but I appreciate the frustration of being faced with incomplete specifications and not being able to get an answer from anyone, so I'll try to interpret some of the information that...

Re: Click Track....

There are ways to produce click tracks that are accurate to 1/48000 second per beat, but it's not particularly simple or useful.
For "cuing up" one pieces of audio with another it is much easier to just put each bit in its own track, then use the time shift tool to align them correctly.

Re: Audacity don't recording cassettes anymore

Try resetting Audacity's preferences first - it's relatively quick and easy to do and may be all that you need. (just follow the instructions from my previous post). If you still have problems after that, post another message with as much detail about your machine and what it will / will not do (wha...

Re: monitoring while recording.

Vista + Laptop + On-board sound (+ Realtek HD or SigmaTel?) = not the easiest options to work with, but lets have a go. The input is most likely a microphone input, although it may be a combined microphone / line input. Either way the sound quality is likely to be dubious and you will need to be ver...

Re: Plugin template

Audacity has no support for VST GUI's (replacing them with a very basic GUI) and no support for real time effects or VSTi's. Audacity can be built from source code to support ASIO (using the ASIO SDK from Steinberg), in which case it can be plumbed into a stand alone VST host. http://audacityteam.or...

Re: Old Southwest Tech Pre-amp

Are we going back to circa 1970 here? Doe the pre-amp work? What have you previously used it with? Do you have any specifications for it - in particular the output level? What are you wanting to plug into it? Is the output level adjustable? If it works with a line input into a modern domestic power ...

Re: Vocal Pitch Correction

Do you have the vocals on separate tracks from the rest of the music? If so there are a number of tools that you can use: In the Effects menu: "Change Pitch" and "Change Speed" (note that if you use the latter you will probably need to do some cutting and splicing to keep the tim...

Re: Need advise ...best microphone?

Personally I hate monitoring through headphones - give me a decent pair of speakers any day. Having said that, a good pair of headphones will probably little more than 10%-20% of the price of a good pair of speakers.

Re: Ringtone Questions LG CU515

You would be much better looking for these answers on a web site for your cell phone rather than Audacity. Generally uncompressed WAV format will give the highest quality, but also the largest file, hence the shortest duration. With compressed formats (MP3 etc.) there is a trade off between quality ...
