Re: Crash in WinXP

A quick note on that - "more than 90% full" at any time . While you audacity is open and you are working on a project, the temporary files can eat up a huge amount of space - if you have an hour long recording (close to 1 GB) and you choose Mix and Render, or Export, then the entire file i...

Re: Recording and Playback Pitch

I don't think this has been confirmed yet, but it appears to be that some hardware responds badly to certain sample rates, so that, for example, Audacity is set for audio at 44.1 kHz, and the audio hardware says that it is delivering at 44.1 kHz, but really it is sending the audio data at 48 kHz. 44...

Re: FRUSTRATED!!!

You need to use the Windows Mixer (speaker icon near the clock). Find the Record Settings Set the Record Input to "Line In" and adjust the level. (sometimes you do this by selecting the input that you want, and sometimes it is my muting the inputs that you don't want. If "Line In"...

Re: turntable record vol level way low

It sounds like you have a suitable work-around, but if you still want to try reinstalling the SB drivers.... I have not begun any removal (SB or the other drivers) yet for I am uncertain as to the Device Manager sections under "Sound, video and game" to delete This is in addition to my pre...

For the "CD Ripping method" to work, you must record it as an "audio CD", not a "Data CD".

Re: Using USB - Recording fine but not playing

USB audio devices frequently "hijack" the audio system, setting both Record and Playback to USB. If your USB interface has audio out as well as audio in, then that's fine and you can plug the audio out from the interface into an amp or powered speakers. If your audio interface does not hav...

Re: Selecting an audio interface to create 4 Audacity (or n

With a standard audio interface you can record one (mono) or 2 (stereo) tracks simultaneously. Note that if you record in stereo, then with a small mixing desk you could pan the volacls to one channel and the guitars to the other, then once it is recorded into Audacity you can split the stereo track...

Re: Salvaging a migrated project from gaps

Is there any hope of restoring this project? Probably not - it sounds like Audacity has erased some of the .au files as well. As you have no doubt worked out by now, the data files are referenced in the (.aup) project file. If the paths change, then this is likely to scramble the project, and fixin...

Re: Audacity + AC97 Drivers

Use the speaker icon in the task bar (near the clock) to pull up the Mixer application for your sound card. There will be settings in it for Playback levels, and for Record levels. You need to adjust the Record level. If you still have problems, you will need to post lots of screen shots showing eve...
