Glitches are caused when the incoming data can not get through to the hard drive fast enough, so bits get missed out. Drop the sample rate to 44.1 or 48kHz (this will halve the data throughput and have negligible effect on sound quality (apart from perhaps curing the glitches) Defrag your hard drive...

It might, and for the sake of borrowing a cheap computer mic it would be worth testing. I for one would be interested to know if that fixed it.

The exe version gives a few extra options such as creating a desktop icon, an entry in the start menu, and associating audacity projects with Audacity (so that you can click on a .aup file to open it).

If you are exporting as WAV, then no - the wav format does not support meta-tags (it's just a minor annoyance that Audacity asks you for them when you choose to export). The warnings about excessive disk space usage would have to be in massively big letters.

Another way would be to open up a new stero track and paste the audio into the second track with a slight overlap in relation to the end of the original track - and cross-fade between the two stereo tracks This works well with music that does not have a strong rhythm, but try to keep the cross-fade...
