Re: Saved Project Not Playing Back Correctly

This is usually a result of being too tidy with your computer and cleaning up "unused" files. Computer slobs rarely if ever get this problem. Moral of the story, don't put your toys away until you have finished playing with them - or as it applies to Audacity - avoid deleting or moving any...

Re: How to achieve that clear-crisp radio FM sound!

Try the SC4 compressor. (and yes, you will probably find Audacity 1.3.x better for what you want).

Re: vst plugins

VST plug-ins also require the VST bridge to be installed as Audacity does not support VST natively.
Audacity supports LADSPA and Nyquist plug-ins natively.

Re: Safely split sound card analog out.....?

The difference between 112dB and 117dB is negligible for all practical purposes. The ambient noise from the refrigerator in the house next door will probably mask the difference. If you are playing CD's the noise floor of the CD is way above either of these figures (even if the amplification electr...

Re: How To Chop (as in chop and screw) Music

In Audacity 1.3, you can also use Ctrl+I to split tracks at the beats, then select beats by double clicking between the splits. If you have two copies of the same track time shifted by one beat difference, you can then silence (Ctrl+L) the alternate beats of the two tracks to create chopping. You ca...

If all the tracks are mono, Audacity mixes the files down to one mono track. If one or more of the tracks are stereo (or panned off centre) Audacity will mix the tracks down to a stereo track on Export.

Re: High-pitched garble when exporting to MP3

Audacity exports my 56-minute WMA to MP3, but the resulting MP3 is about 3 seconds of high pitched garbled noise Audacity does not support WMA. I used to do this exact same procedure (WMA to MP3) with Audacity in Windows and didn't have the issue. I don't know how you managed that - Audacity does n...

Re: 'stereo to mono' + export = segmentation fault

This seems to be fixed in Audacity 1.3.5
The workaround for earlier versions is to "Split stereo track" from the drop down menu near the track name, then either use just one of the tracks, or set them both to mono and "Mix and Render" them to a single mono track.
