Why do you not want the new recording on a new track? If it is on a new track, then everything else that you are asking for can be done (in...

Re: Mixing down multiple channels

I don't know how it is done in Audacity, but in Nyquist you can use the "scale" function on each sound, http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Nyquist_Basics:_Changing_the_Volume then use the "sim" function to combine them. http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~rbd/doc/nyquist/part4.html#30

Re: Exporting short wav files adds silence

Problem exists for 32-bit float format, but not for 16-bit format - thus cutting the piano thrill below 5 sec is possible for me. Re: Audacity HANGS in XP after 1 successful export session

I'll rename the audacity.cfg file before restarting things... do you want me to email you the file??? If so, where do I send it? It's just a text file, so you could open it with Notepad, then copy and paste it onto the forum. If you use the button in the forum message editor it will insert a pair o...

MDOC wrote:True, but with floating 32bit sampling, it's not really a problem.
You don't get floating 32 bit samples with MP3 files - 32 bit audio gets down-sampled to 16 bit as part of the compression encoding.
