Re: Recording with Multiple USB Mics

That sucks. I didn't realize it just pushes them all into one signal. "One digital signal" - that's not the same as mono - it is 4 mono channels in one device, so Audacity can access all 4 channels separately. I'm starting to get the impression that Audacity doesn't go along very well wit...

Re: Recording a Drum Set Question

It depends on the drivers - Audacity can only input from one "device" at a time, so it will only work if the "daisy chained" devices appeared as a single device. Also, Audacity does not use ASIO so it would need to have WDM drivers. Having said that, I believe that it comes with ...

Re: No sound on XP with SigmaTel

Can you record anything with Windows Sound Recorder?
If not, check the settings in the Windows Mixer (Loudspeaker icon near the clock) - Check both the Record and Playback settings.

Re: New Audacity Functionality: Real-time editing

A possible workaround: ALT+TAB (change focus to Audacity) Ctrl+M (drop marker) ALT+TAB (back to the text program) or ALT+TAB P (pause Audacity) Ctrl+M (drop marker) Name Marker (optional) UP cursor (move focus back to audio track) P (resume recording) ALT+TAB By resuming the recording and going back...

Re: Please help

There's a free program called SUPER by erightsoft that can convert most media file types. If you can convert the files to WAV files that should fix the problem.

Re: Playback meters active but no sound; OpenSuSE 11.

Unfortunately we rarely see any Linux gurus here - I've only been using Linux for about a year, so I'm struggling to come up with useful suggestions. I've looked on Google, and it seems that your sound card is commonly used on Linux machines without any problems, so it seems that ALSA should be able...

Re: Differing Recording Quality

Is there any information I can get on what software might interfere with Audacity or my recording setup? The usual suspects are VST plug-ins (if you have the VST enabler in Audacity - hence my previous suggestion). After that the documented cases on Windows are quite rare, so there is not any real ...

Re: Audacity crashes when I convert a file to mono

Are you exporting as WAV or MP3 (or some other format)? If exporting as MP3, have you installed LAME correctly? Can you export smaller files? If the LAME installation seems to be the problem, try downloading it again from the link on the main Audacity website and re-install it. If the problem is wit...

This site is really for mp3's, but it seems to work for wav files as well.
