Re: "maxed out" volume distortion...?
I'm guessing that these are analogue recordings? There's not much you can do - You can try a bit of EQ to take some of the harshness out of the distortion, but that's about it. This is why it is so important to avoid distortion in the original recording. For digital recordings, clipping may be repai...

Re: transfering aup,s to itunes
Time left for recording 30 minutes : ...Question is What happens next . If you are on Windows, the next thing is that Windows crashes horribly. Make more space before attempting to record. Windows should always have a minimum of 10% free disk space at all times. On a Linux machine, the next thing i...

Re: Forum Index Order.
I think the idea of having the International sections at the top was to make it more evident that this is not an English only forum.

Re: Vibrato and EQ Algorithms
And I think I've figured out how to do vibrato -- just resample, distributing the samples earlier/later using a sine wave to control the time displacement. That should work - you could (optionally) also modulate the amplitude at the same sine wave frequency for a variation of the effect (or on its ...

Re: Playing Jamlab device through Audacity????
1) Ensure that JamLab is connected and recognised by Windows before you open Audacity. 2) Ensure that you have WDM or MME drivers installed for JamLab (the standard release of Audacity does not support ASIO drivers). 3) "Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O" check if there is a USB audio device ...

Re: Mixer toolbar missing input device option (Intrepid Ibex
This is a hazard of using alpha (early release and largely untested) software.Robertjm wrote:is this a known issue I'm running into, or did I miss some other setting to get input device option to appear?
Can you get your audio device to show up in AlsaMixer? If not, then do not pass Go, do not collect 200.

Re: Noise Removal Follies
As you said, noise on 78's is complex, and relatively high in level. I would try to reduce some of the different types of noise in separate passes. First off I would set the bit depth to 32 bit because you are probably going to do a fair bit of processing, and some of the filters appear to work bett...

Re: Shortcuts conflicts with entering label text
Resetting the keyboard shortcuts to "Default" seems to have fixed it (temporarily?) for me.

Re: Noise removel not so successful
I can get rid of most of it with a high pass filter set to 200Hz. When the music starts, there is very little below about 300 Hz, but most of the "deep, thunderous sound" is below 100 Hz, so using a "High Pass" filter set to 200 Hz removes much of the rumble with very little effe...

Re: how to remove a voiceover?
That's because there is a massive and very obvious stereo effect on the voice-over. The voice is not in the centre, so it will not be removed by the centre pan remover. In fact, this is an excellent example of when Centre Pan Remover will not remove the vocal. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00122...
