Re: Better Program

Sorry, Audacity is the most user friendly audio editor that I know of. There are plenty of alternative programs such as soundforge http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/products/soundforgefamily.asp Audition http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/audition/ Krystal Audio Engine http://www.kreatives.org/krist...

Re: Recording @96Khz

My 8 year old says that he "sometimes" hears squeaky noises from bats when out. That's encouraging. Also, I've just tested my Zoom H2 recorder at 96kHz, and that's showing that it is recording something all the way up to 40kHz (internal electret microphones). Whether it is just noise it's...

Re: Couldnt find the data project file?

hey so i'm using version 1.2.3 That is a very very old version - grab a copy of 1.2.6 (stable) or 1.3.5 (beta) or both - you can have both installed at the same time, just don't try running them simultaneously (they probably will not like that). Note that Audacity 1.2.x projects can be opened in 1....

Re: Sudden strong scratchy static noise while recording

"I don't have a battery in my car. It's an older one run by gasoline." :D Yamaha skillfully didn't include a picture of the rear of the unit. It's an illustration with the names of stuff conveniently left off. The manual available from the link that I posted has conveniently omitted the n...

Re: Recording @96Khz

I am so hoping that this works. It would seem a shame to have to use a frequency divider - somehow moving it away from the actual bat sounds. Let's hope that you have big butch bats with (relatively) deep voices.

Some posts ago we were talking about recording at 96kHz - any joy there?

Re: mixer tool bar no mic option

Go to "Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O" and try and set it there. If it's still no go, download Audacity 1.3.5 and try it with that. The problem is that when Audacity 1.2 was written (quite some time ago), these microphones did not exist. Several recent audio devices use drivers that do not...
