Re: Recording from a cassette player

You should be able to get the same results with Audacity as you do with Windows Sound recorder. If you set up Audacity to use the Windows Sound Mapper recording input ("Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O"), then it will use the same audio set-up as Windows Sound Recorder, and the recording wil...

Re: digitizing mono cassettes with stereo equipment?

C - go for the better track. You could also try combining (mixing) the tracks to see if this gives a better result. To do this, just split the stereo track and set both to mono (from the drop down menu by clicking on the track name. Play them one at a time - solo one, then the other then play both t...

Re: Bug in 1.3.5: 24 bit to 16 bit WAV export or import

Yes, there seems to be an issue here - it is the same on Linux. When the default project rate is set to 24 bit, it will not import 16 bit files correctly.

The workaround is to make sure that the default project Quality is set to 16 bit or 32 bit before importing 16 bit files.

Re: Replacing instruments from one song with another

You record samples from the heavy metal band, then edit them in a sample editor and load them into a sampler, then create a midi sequence of the slow calm track in a suitable midi sequencer, then play the sequence back through the sampler, with the samples associated with the appropriate midi events...

Re: Help! My right line in doesn't work

Looks like you have a wiring fault. There is a DC voltage on the right channel. Check the wiring - do not use it in this condition. If the fault is in your wiring, it could destroy your sound card. It is possible that there is a fault with your sound card - to check your sound card, disconnect the p...

Re: Cannot delete corrupted Audacity project file

You need to restore it to its original location, then check that you have permission to write/delete both the folders and the files. I suspect that there are some files for which your user account does not have sufficient rights. If this is the case then you will either have to delete them, or chang...

Re: export multiple should NOT use mixer settings!

This feature is very useful for some people.
To export tracks without any change in pan position or volume - do not adjust the pan or volume. The default is Pan Centre (no change) and Gain 0dB (no change).

Re: Changing Voice

It all depends on how you want to change the sound - there are many effects that will change a voice in different ways. Also many plug-in effects available for download from the main Audacity site. I think the best thing that you can do is to play with them and discover what they can do.
