Re: [ubuntu 8.04] Sound records normally, playback at 4x spe

Try using ALSA instead of OSS. You may need to fiddle with settings, but "Alsa default" will usually work as long as you select sample rates that are supported by your hardware and driver. On Xubuntu, I have found Audacity 1.3.5 to work better than 1.3.4 (which I think is still the default...

Re: Stereo

Enable "2 channel stereo" recording in "Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O"

Note that if you are using a "Microphone input" on your computer, these are only mono. "Line inputs" can be stereo providing that they are supplied with a stereo signal.

Re: Sound while recording

Look in the Windows Mixer (loudspeaker icon near the clock). The Windows Mixer has separate pages for playback settings and recording settings. Enable the playback setting for the Line Input.

See if anything in this thread helps: http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=5611

If you still have problems, you will need to give more detail about your setup.

Re: Recording with Stereo Mix is louder than Microphone inpu

I apologise in advance, if I've posted this under the wrong subforum. Assuming that you are using Windows, then yes this is the place. Thank you for making the effort :) Using 'stereo mix' produces a decent sound, but using 'microphone' as an input, records a sound that is barely audible. Are you u...

Re: Can't record

"dismuting" the sound of the microphone will enable the sound to play through your speakers, but this is not the same as selecting the microphone as the recording source. I'm not sure how you do it in Fedora, but if you have AlsaMixer installed you could try looking at the AlsaMixer docume...

"Aften" is also at a very early development stage (current version 0.0.8). You will probably find things improve in later versions of these applications.

Re: Remote control for Audacity?

You can use a standard wireless keyboard. Nearly all of Audacities functions can be done from the keyboard, and "hot keys" are configurable to suit any specific requirements you have. I do not think that the Red Rover is made any more (obsolete product), but wireless keyboards are easily a...
