ION USB turntables (and clones)
It appears that there are several variations of the ION USB turntable. http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:HINPTYqIJHH8NM:http://deliverator.silverfir.net/gallery/albums/IonUSBTurntable/DSC_1423.sized.jpg http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:o-3cCsD6qNgWxM:http://www.slipperybrick.com/wp-content/uplo...

Re: Sound while recording
I right clicked and left clicked the speaker icon. Can you be more specific? Unfortunately it's not that easy to be specific about the details - in the old days when XP was young, it was pretty much the same for most sound cards, but in recent years the sound card manufacturers have increasing used...

The 2 meters shown in my link: one is for incoming and other is outgoing, That's right - the red meters on the right are the Record meters, and the meters on the left (which will be green when active) are the playback meters. You can resize the meters by dragging them around with your mouse (click/...

Re: Audacity HANGS in XP after 1 successful export session
2 months in and we're still missing basic information like:
How much free drive space on your C: drive?
Does the turntable work reliably with Pyro?
Does Audacity work with the USB turntable disconnected?
Are you shutting down Audacity in between projects (albums)?
Exactly what hardware do you have?

Re: MP3 files truncated
WMP is probably applying a "fade out" at the end of the file, but because the MP3s that you are producing in Audacity to not have silence at the end, it sounds like the file is being truncated. If you look hard enough, you may find a way to switch off this behaviour in WMP, but it's easier...

Re: How do I properly uninstall 1.2.6 before installing 1.3.
How do I properly uninstall the earlier version so I don't get in trouble with the new one? You won't get into trouble, in fact you can leave it installed if you wish. By default Audacity 1.3.x installs to a different directory to Audacity 1.2.x and uses no registry settings. If you want to uninsta...

Re: Noise removel not so successful
Perhaps you are asking too much - this is what can be done using the high pass filter: http://easyspacepro.com/audacity/hipass/sampleFiltered.wav Note that I have left the first 2 seconds of noise unchanged so as to keep a perspective on how much noise you are trying to get rid of. Chop off the firs...

Re: Recording from two microphones concurrently
I've never used one, but it looks like it could do the job.philipt18 wrote:Can I use an M-Audio MobilePre USB and hook up two microphones?
How about asking on the M-Audio user forum? http://forums.m-audio.com/
If you end up getting one, do let us know how you get on with it.
