Re: recording multiple tracks

When i was recording the 30th layer in audacity, the music wont play properly Your computer is reaching its limit (if it's a fairly powerful computer, it's probably disk access speed). Save your project as "backup.aup" (just in case you need to go back to this point) Then save your projec...

Re: two .aup files will not load

<<<and changing the filename of one file.>>> There are specific file and folder names burned into the AUP file (did you open that one up and look at it?). Audacity will blindly follow those instructions. If you change anything, the Project turns to dust. Koz If you can change the names back to the ...

Re: Recording with Stereo Mix is louder than Microphone inpu

SigmaTel make a lot of cheap on-board sound cards that seem to frequently cause problems when recording. I think that some of these devices have "Automatic Gain Control" (AGC), and/or "noise reduction", both of which can completely mess up your recording levels. To make the probl...

Re: Stereo

"Software playthrough" is a "fallback" method for hardware configurations that do not support hardware playthrough. An example of this would be if you are recording from one audio device (such as a USB turntable) and playing back on a different audio device (such as a sound card)...

Re: How do I properly uninstall 1.2.6 before installing 1.3.

Audacity looks at the 1.2 registry settings for Audacity preferences and copies these into the .cfg file. I believe that one of the reasons the developers decided to do this was to remove the need to re-install or relocate the LAME installation. One thing to note is that this is likely to leave you...

Re: MP3 files truncated

Getting rid of WMP is doubly difficult if you are producing sound tracks for others to play. This means it's all of your users who have to install another player and make sure that it gets used to play the MP3 tracks. This is effectively impossible for a large user base. I guess for your problem (&...

Re: Help With Compression Effects

Use the SC4 compressor - the standard Audacity (built in) compressor is not fast enough. Set the attack as fast as possible (1.5 ms), and the decay to about 50 milliseconds (0.050 seconds) The difference between RMS and Peak is quite subtle - tray it on both. The "threshold" will depend on...

Re: Left and Right Channels Same in Stereo

I can't help you with the "Vista" bit, I've not got my barge pole with me, but I can tell you all about the UCA 202 on Windows XP. The UCA 202 does not have any pan controls - it is straight in and out. 2 RCA input sockets - one for the Left channel and one for the right. 2 RCA output sock...
