Make it quirky and amusing.
I like the way it used to have "Audacious" rather than just a boring old "OK" button.

Re: noise reduction sampling crashes audacity 1.3.5

I don't have a website that I can post it on Go to Google and type in "free file hosting", then pick one. Try and find one that allows "hot linking" so you can then just post a link top the file. You could type "free file hosting""hot linking" (with quotes) i...

Re: Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron - lots of bugs

I have upgrade Audacity to 1.3.5 by installing the version in the "Intrepid" repository: http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/sound/audacity I've been using it for a while now, and it works well. The two main bugs in this version are: 1) Audacity is incompatible with JACK. If you attempt to...

Re: Exporting Selection Info

When I ran your code, I didn't get an output of 0. The program gave me nothing - not NIL and not an error message. Just a blank text document. In Audacity 1.3.5 If you select some audio, then from the Effects menu choose "Nyquist prompt" Enter (setf time (snd-t0 s)) and click on "Deb...

When I ran your code, I didn't get an output of 0. The program gave me nothing - not NIL and not an error message. Just a blank text document. It wasn't MY code, I just copied it from your previous message :) Strange that you got a different result (or rather "no" result). I presume that ...

Re: Recording Audio Off Your Computer

Some CD burners can make audio CDs from MP3s (example Nero), but other can not.
If your CD burner can not make audio CDs from MP3s, open the MP3 in Audacity and Export as "16 bit 44100Hz Microsoft PCM WAV"

Re: exporting 32-bit file as FLAC?

Some Mac users have reported major stability problems when using 24 bit files. I don't know if this still applies, or will apply to you, but if you are planning to use 24 bit files, you should test it out thoroughly before embarking on a major project.

Re: exporting 32-bit file as FLAC?

it sounds like the 8-bit exponent is only used during processing, so that's why exporting as 24-bit is lossless? I think that's about the size of it. 24 bit audio is still way above the specification of even professional level equipment, so even if there are some theoretical losses they will be so ...

Re: Background static won't go

and I still think it's safe to say the mic is not the problem. Why do you think "it's safe to say"? Have you tested it? Even expensive microphones can be faulty (I once bought a $250 condenser microphone that was noisy and had to get it replaced under warranty, and I notice in the review ...

Re: Audacity Crashed - recovered manually

I think that's probably overkill Probably :D but I did say "something like" It should be done before import of uncompressed files, if at all. I think that a pop-up before import would be more annoying than having an additional option in the set-up dialogue. During set-up you are asked to ...
