Re: Sony ICD SX46 wont work with Win XP 64 Bit
What doesn't work, the Sony or the editing software? Most digital recorder will appear in Windows XP as exertnal storage device, as long as XP has the necessary drivers to recognise the device. If XP does recognise the device as a storage device, you can simply copy the recordings onto your computer...

Re: What's a good recipe for remixing early stereo ?
I've just tried koz's method, and pleased to say it works exactly as expected. When you work it all out, both methods do the same thing, which is to vary the amount of original Left and Right signal in each of the new Left and Right channels. It is very easy for koz's method to be implemented in har...

Re: Save tracks to "the cloud"
Hi Henrik, This is the Audacity users forum, we occasionally get developers drop by, but mostly this forum is inhabited by Audacity users. The developers use the mail list here: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/audacity-devel I think it is unlikely that your API would be incorporated int...

Re: cutting voices from sound
Here is the tutorial: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Vocal_Removal Note that this only works on stereo recordings where the vocal is in the centre and only in the centre. This technique works by removing all audio that is in the centre of the mix, which is the lead vocals on many, but ...

Re: What's a good recipe for remixing early stereo ?
The insanely easy way: 1) Record or import the stereo track. 2) Split the stereo track 3) Set each track to mono 4) Pan the old "Left track" some way to the left, and the old "Right track" the equivalent distance to the right. (listen through headphones for the desired mix) 5) Ex...

Re: I press play but nothing happens.
Look in "Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O" and check that you have the correct recording device and playback device selected. Are you using a USB audio device?
Can you give us a bit more information about what your set-up is and what you are doing.

Re: Tip and Idea Exchanging!!!
B For recording electric guitar, I like to get a really good guitar sound through a guitar amp in an isolated room and record it with a good microphone placed about a meter away from the cab, then tweak the sound if necessary in Audacity. I heard that instruments favour certain frequencies, can som...

Re: Can I Back Up Files/Data to a DVD?
I never let my music authoring system go for maximum burn speed. At 48X or 56X, a lot of burners will produce disks that will not play on my QC machine. I force them down to 16X. All the errors stopped. Not always the case - it depends on the CD burner and the CDR's. I have a computer at work that ...
