Re: LAME - how to download it?
You may have a bad (corrupted) download, or perhaps the wrong version for your Mac. Check out the Mac section on this page http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Lame_Installation#Mac_Instructions and download a fresh copy of Lame from the appropriate link, then follow the installation instruc...

Re: Question About Exporting
Why do you want to use 96kHz? If your final show is going to end up on an audio CD, just export as 26 bit 44.1 If your show is going to end up on a DVD (a sound track for a video), export as 16 bit 48 kHz For general purpose, export as either 16 bit 44.1 kHz or 16 bit 48 kHz. (16 bit 44.1 kHz is mor...

Re: voice and instrument distortion
I have the preview set to 6 seconds - I find that 6 seconds is better for getting an idea of what the effect will sound like. For the graphic Equalizer: Basically it is a fancy "tone control" Instead of just having controls for "Bass" and "Treble", you have 31 individua...

Not wanting to sound like a stuck record, but what happens when you record with "Windows Sound Recorder"?
(NOT using Audacity. NOT opening Audacity. JUST opening "Windows Sound Recorder" and recording something.)

Re: Audacity crashed while opening 2nd MP3
In Audacity 1.3.x Before you save a project, the data files are stored in the location indicated in Audacity Preferences (Edit > Preferences > Directories) In Audacity 1.2.x, the directory is still shown in Preferences, but I don't remember exactly where) After you have saved a project, the temporar...

Re: Question About Exporting
Therefore, would I choose WAV (Microsoft 16 bit PCM) as the uncompressed format? It depends on what you want to do with your recordings. Generally I would say yes, 44.1 kHz 16 bit Microsoft PCM WAV is an excellent choice. It is compatible with nearly everything and is the standard for audio CDs. Hi...

Re: Remove harsh frequencies from recorded sound
It is a low pass filter (eight-pole Butterworth low pass filter), meaning that it has quite a sharp cut off frequency, in this case the cut off frequency is 3000 Hz. Testing it on the sample that you posted, I notice that when I listen through my cheap, low quality PC speakers, there is little if an...

Re: Best VST Plugins For Audacity That I can Buy
Not all .ny files are effects - some are listed in the Analysis menu, and some in the Generate menu (depending on what type of plug-in they are. Have a look at a clean installation of Audacity 1.3.5 first (as suggested previously). I could post links to some weird sounds that I've made using Audacit...

Every video editing program that I have used supports 44100 Hz or 48000 Hz 16 bit wav files seamlessly. What's the problem?
