Re: combining 2 mono tracks into stereo

Using Audacity 1.3.5 Create a third track and make sure it is a stereo track (from the "tracks" menu) Select All (Ctrl+A) Mix and render (from the "tracks" menu). I'm not sure if this works in 1.2, but I would recommend updating to 1.3 anyway. 1.3.4 is very stable on Windows XP a...

Re: 1.34 crash message

That sounds more like a "Windows" message than an Audacity message. Try updating to Audacity 1.3.5 and see if that is any better. If not, delete the "audacity.cfg" file from Documents and Settings<user name>Application DataAudacity and try it again (note this file is usually a hi...

Re: Audacity with Firefox, clobbers audio driver?

Remove all Firefox Add-ons/Extensions.
If the problem is fixed, add them back one at a time to find which is causing the problem.

Can you record a sample with Windows Sound Recorder? (a good way to test the computer sound system) Does W...

Re: rec from internet

If you mean that you want to record sounds that are playing in an internet browser, then yes, it is usually possible, though Vista and Macs make it a bit more difficult.

Re: Pan Effect Filter?

Would a "Pan Envelope" tool do the trick?

I seem to remember seeing a feature request for this.

Re: Forgot how to install a new VST gadget

Not all VST plug-ins are supported by the VST bridge.
See here for more info: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... T_Plug-ins

Personally, I prefer to use LADSPA and Nyquist plug-ins with Audacity as they tend to cause less problems.
