Re: Periodic record glitches
Windows update can also cause problems if it decides to update while you are recording. If the fan noise is insanely loud on the recording, then Audacities Noise Removal effect will not be able to deal with it. Noise Removal is designed to handle low level continuous noise, such as background hiss on an otherwise good cassette recording. Skype may be using some kind of noise suppressio...

Re: Audio Silence
I've re-read this topic several times, and I'm still unsure of what you are asking. 1) You recorded something on your Vivtar 4100 digital camera. 2) You converted it to WAV format using SUPER. 3) You open the WAV file in Audacity and find that there are silences in the recording where there should b...

You should be able to get some degree of improvement, but you will either still have a lot of that noise remaining, or the actual sound that you are recording will be badly effected. I'll wait to hear from you re/ the battery test (...

Does it claim to have a Mic-In connection? Many PC laptops do. Maybe a little microphone symbol with an arrow pointing in. Most PC laptops have one - usually near the headphone socket. Most PC microphone inputs also supply "phantom" power for PC computer microphones, so the battery versio...

Re: Recording - I cant hear what I just played? help!
Make sure either Software Playthrough or Hardware Playthrough is selected. Pick the one with the least delay problems while you're performing. The Windows version does not have an option for Hardware Playthrough - hardware playthrough is the default setting and is set automatically unless you selec...

Re: Intermittant clicks / pops
Another major culprit is "Windows Update". If it is running in the background it can hog the cpu and/or hard drive making fluid playback or recording impossible. When recording it can be best to temporarily switch off Windows update. There's a list of more tips here: http://audacityteam.or...
