Re: Importing is not working
Never tried iTunes, but both "SUPER" (erightsoft) and "Foobar2000" are good on Windows. Either of these can handle just about all audio formats known to man (or woman). SUPER also supports some video formats. Foobar2000 is also an excellent audio player. Both are free to download...

Re: 2 USB mic's with onboard sound?
Ok, then this will have to do, if they want more professional podcasting, will have to invest in some REAL hardware, or go to a recording studio. Or you can just show loads of confidence and bluff it - conduct it like a live, on location, TV interview and hold the microphone toward yourself, ask a ...

Re: Assigning different inputs to different tracks
I don't need all the inputs. My question is what if I want to use inputs 1, 2, 4 and 7? Can you record tracks 1,2,3,4,5,6,7all at the same time? If so, do that, then delete tracks 3,5 and 6. That's how the other guy managed it. Windows drivers are not as flexible as ASIO, but Audacity does not supp...

Re: Recording Vent/TS Using Vista
There was a post about this a while ago - If I remember correctly, Ventrilo and teamspeak do some weird stuff with the audio so as to prevent your microphone from feeding back through your speakers - unfortunately this completely screws it up for recording in the normal way, so you either need to us...

Re: matching tempos
You need to work out what the tempo of each piece is. Listen to the music with a stopwatch in your hand and count the number of beats in 15 seconds and multiply by 4 (or in 30 seconds and multiply by 2). Repeat this for the second piece. Let's say that you counted 32 beats in 15 seconds for the firs...

Re: Good sampling rate for vinyl?
I pretty well agree wit waxcylinder on all points: 32 bit is great for processing as quantizing errors are virtually non-existent. I find 16 bit quite adequate for the final export, and indistinguishable from 24 or 32 bit. I usually use 44.1 kHz since the final destination is usually CD, but I think...

Re: Mp3 to wav giving huge files?
That's the whole point of the MP3 format - it "compresses" the data (makes the file much smaller), at the expense of a small loss in audio quality.
An hour of uncompressed stereo audio at CD quality almost fills a CD - that's around 600 MB.

Re: recording problem
You need to have perfect pitch to use the Audacity vocal recording function. Just kidding. C'mon koz - don't confuse the poor chap :D Juggle between Software Playthrough and Hardware playthrough. On Windows, it is highly recommended to NOT use "software playthrough" unless absolutely esse...

Re: Recording from two microphones concurrently
It may not be possible when using Windows Drivers. Can you record all 4 inputs simultaneously onto 4 individual tracks? I don't know if the device can do that or not, but it would be interesting to know if it does.philipt18 wrote:Still having trouble getting specific inputs assigned to specific tracks.

Re: first track gets recorded onto second track...?
"Mix", "Stereo Mix", "What U Hear" are different names for the same thing. They are referring to using the audio that the sound card is sending to the speakers as the recording source. This setting is not in Audacity, but in the Windows Mixer, or the sound cards control...
