Re: Computer recommendation wanted - eee pc, acer?
The biggest problem with getting Audacity to work on Linux is usually getting the sound system working properly. This s because there are zillions of different sound cards, and the manufacturers don't bother making drivers for Linux. Hopefully on an EEEPC, since the hardware comes with Linux pre-ins...

Re: Mixer input was OK in 1.2, gone in 1.3
The input selector in Audacity 1.3.5 is in "View > Toolbars > Device Toolbar" I don't use it myself - depending on which version of Audacity and which machine I'm on it either works or it doesn't. I set the recording and playback devices in Audacity in "Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O&...

Re: Audacity crashs on WAVs created with Adobe Premiere Elem
Oops, sorry, my mistake
16 bit 48kHz stereo.
OK, so perhaps the 48kHz? Worth trying exporting at 44.1kHz?

Re: MP3 Voice files> effects (which plugins?)
Unfortunately you can not use the vocoder in batch mode. But you can use the pitch change effect in batch mode (Audacity 1.3.5)

Re: Computer recommendation wanted - eee pc, acer?
Long files could indeed be a problem. Even though you intend to export as MP3, Audacity processes all audio as uncompressed data. 4 tracks at CD quality 4 hours long is around 5.6 GB Normalize each track, then with the "undo" data, Audacity will be using (or trying to use) 11GB of temporar...

Re: Recording from two microphones concurrently
As you are probably aware, Audacity does not support ASIO by default due to licensing restrictions (it can not be distributed with ASIO support). ASIO drivers offer more flexibility than standard Windows drivers, and the same is probably true for Macs (sorry, in my haste I didn't notice it was a Mac...

Re: Bug: Redo function
I've set up "Repeat last effect" as a keyboard shortcut. Why have your done that? "Repeat Last Effect" has a keyboard shortcut by default (Ctrl+R). Perhaps that is the problem. Go to the shorcut preferences and reset them to the defaults, then try using Ctrl+R and see if it works.

Re: Left channel only
Is your computer a laptop?
Are you sure that the lead is OK?
If you swap the connections to the tape deck, (left plug to right socket and right plug to left socket) which channel is a flat line?

Re: Audacity crashs on WAVs created with Adobe Premiere Elem
I've tried your file in Audacity 1.3.5 in Linux, and Audacity 1.2.6 in Windows. No problem with either. "Audacity has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." That is not actually an error message from Audacity - it's an error message generated by Wind...

Re: oleaut32.dll file access issue
oleaut32.dll is part of Windows OLE system (Object Linking and Embedding) and is used all over the place in Windows. If you are only getting this problem with Audacity, then it is probably an incompatibility problem with your version of Windows, in which case you could try a different version of Aud...
