Just came across an old 1.3.3 version of Audacity, and it has an excellent "screen-shot helper" in the Help menu.

Whatever happened to that feature? It was really good, and could be a big help for users on this forum.

Re: window vista

Some USB turntables are still being shipped with the obsolete 1.2.4 version. If this is the case, you should upgrade.

My favourite version of Audacity on Windows to date is version 1.3.4 (also available from the main Audacity web site).

Re: All settings correct still no sound

I'm not sure what is going wrong here, but some ideas off the top of my head: After changing the recording or playback settings in Audacity, it is often necessary to restart Audacity for these changes to take effect. Try upgrading to the newer Audacity 1.3.5 (development on 1.2 ended some time ago a...

Also check that you do not have "software playthrough" selected in "Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O".

Re: Recording Vent/TS Using Vista

Yeah, I have "Stereo Mix" as an option, but when I use it, only the music is recorded. Neither my built-in mic or my plug-in mic is recorded. That's good that you have "Stereo Mix" as an option. Driver upgrades should not be necessary. (Note: this is not to fix the vent/TS probl...

Melodyne studio - EUR 699.00 - out of my price range - I hope it's good.
If you've a big budget, you may also be interested in looking at the Antares products http://www.antarestech.com/
There are also similar features in recent versions of Adobe Audition and Logic Pro.

Re: Good sampling rate for vinyl?

Across the forum there have been various reports of instability with using 24 bit, particularly on some Mac computers. The choice of using 32 bit can have noticeable benefits over 16 bit even with fairly modest amounts of processing (depending on what you are doing), so if your computer can handle 3...

Re: Record and Automate Audio to CD Tracks

Use Audacity 1.3.5 Before the sermon: Set the default sample rate and bit depth to 44100Hz and 16 bit respectively and 2 channel Stereo ("Edit . Preferences > Audio I/O" and "Edit > Preferences > Quality") In "Preferences > Import/Export" un-tick (deselect) "Show M...

Re: Questions about Recording Both Sound and Music

You can do it like that, but there are easier/better ways of producing a high quality result. Consider, for a moment - you have the music playing, you are on a roll with your patter, then just when you don't need it, you get tongue-tied and verbally trip up. This puts you off, you consider stopping ...
