Re: Newbie: How to record the 'actors' voices form a dvd??
I'm sure you're just trying to be helpful stellarstuff, but the legality of what is being proposed in that video is at best highly dubious. Downloading and using Audacity for free is perfectly legal (as described in the Audacity license agreement), but I'm pretty sure that circumventing the software...

Re: problem reecording with emu soundcard
Is that an external USB sound card?
What are you trying to record?
What have you tried so far?
What works and what doesn't?

Re: Problems with Equalization preview...
Yes, this is a known problem. It has now been fixed in the latest development version, so you may well want to upgrade to 1.3.6 when it is released (keep an eye on the main Audacity web site download page).

Re: Noise Removal
The "ART Tube MP USB Microphone Preamp" may be a suitable compromise. It's about half the price of the M-AUDIO Fast Track Pro, and ART have a good reputation for good value pre-amps. (it also has "phantom power" available which means that you could upgrade your microphone to a st...

Re: Basic Hardware Set Up Question
That's how it works on a Mac. On a PC laptop, the connection is most normally for a mono Microphone, not stereo high level. That's the second illustration on that page. On PC desktop (any full size PC) usually have both a "microphone input" and a "line input". Since you are goin...

Re: unzip files
and do not know what they mean by unzipping it. Does that mean to "extract the files"? Yes it does. Here's some instruction taken from the Audacity wiki (which I've edited to show the relevant bits for Audacity 1.2.6) http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Lame_Installation#Simple_I...

Re: Newbie: How to record the 'actors' voices form a dvd??
The easiest way on a Mac is probably to get a "2 x phono to stereo mini-jack" lead so that you can connect the audio output of a normal DVD player to the audio input on your Mac, then record in the same way that you would record from a cassette player. http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.ph...

Re: Export options not available for selection?
I just updated to 1.2.6 hoping that it might resolve the concern, but I am encountering the same issue. All of the 1.2.x versions are quite dated now - 1.3.x is virtually at the point of becoming 1.4 (stable), so it's worth doing the upgrade. There are a few minor differences to the user interface,...
