Re: No longer can't get audacity to work
Download and run AVAST antivirus (free) and let it do a full virus scan (this is the default option when you install). Then update the virus definitions and scan again (full boot time scan). This will take some time, but will ensure that you have a clean machine before you start investigating furthe...

Re: Noisy voises
Thanks for the ventrillo tutorial link - I don't use ventrillo, so that's useful information. There's a couple of things that I noticed in that tutorial - 1) The recording he made was at a very low level. The waveform on the recording track is barely registering, whereas recordings would usually for...

Re: Tape Player Headphone Output to Line In Plays One Channe
Laptop or Desktop? PC laptops nearly always have a microphone input, not a line input. The microphone input is generally too sensitive to work well with a "headphone out", and too noisy for any serious audio recording. If it's a Desktop, we have seen some cases where the microphone and lin...

Re: Noisy voises
Seen a few problems with ventrillo, so I'd guess that is the cause of the problem.
It seems that ventrillo will not play nicely with Audacity. Is there some other way that you can convert or export the files into a format that is supported by Audacity (WAV file is probably format for Audacity).

Re: USB recording = good enough; everything else, different!
Are you recording in the same place (the same room) as your original recording? Is the microphone placement the same? In short - is EVERYTHING else the same apart from the change of microphone? Look in "Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O" is "software playthrough switched OFF? In the &quo...

Re: No longer can't get audacity to work
Is this on Vista? oleaut32.dll is part of Windows OLE system (Object Linking and Embedding) and is used all over the place in Windows. If you are only getting this problem with Audacity, then it is probably an incompatibility problem with your version of Windows, in which case you could try a differ...

Re: E-MU 1212 Sound Card recording
The mixer toolbar is always greyed out in Vista, and sometimes in XP as well (due to the hardware drivers). Select your audio device in "Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O" for booth recording and playback. Use the "Windows Mixer" or the sound card control panel (loudspeaker icon nea...

Re: unable to open some files
I'm not sure what you mean. This is the "Downloading and Failed Installation Issues" board. Are you having a problem downloading or installing Audacity? If it is a problem using Audacity, please post on the Windows, Mac or Linux board for the version of Audacity that you are using (that wi...
