Re: Records a flat line and plays back nothing

What you are trying to do, and can not do, is to record sounds tat are playing on your computer, as described in this article: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Recording_audio_playing_on_the_computer What you have not mentioned: You are using a Laptop PC? You are using Vista? You have a ...

Re: No Line-In in Vista

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 with Vista. It lets me record with Audacity 1.2.6 only in mono even though I select 2 channels in Edit/Preferences. No dropdown window for selecting StereoMix/Phone/Line In, etc. appears on the screen. I don't use Vista myself, but there may be some information here that...

Re: Error Opening Project

You have probably inadvertently removed some of the data that Audacity was using.

Re: trouble exporting MP3 with specific settings

There are some known problems exporting with specific settings in the current version of Audacity. I think that it has been fixed now, so Audacity 1.3.6 should work correctly when it is released. In the mean time, the easiest solution is probably to use an external encoder. I use "LameDrop"...

Re: raise precision of a nyquist plugin?

Oh yes, that plug-in. I really like it (does what it says on the tin).
allencmcbride wrote:The author of the plugin also suggested I just reduce the range of the slider, so it would be more precise over its new range.
Do you know how to do that, or do you need help with it?

Re: freezes 100% CPU / generating spectrum for some FLAC fil

maybe this could have been avoided if i first uninstalled the 1.2.6 version Perhaps it could have been. I think we could do with someone doing some tests on this to find the easiest solution. I'm on Linux these days so it's not easy to check it out myself. Do you fancy doing a bit of testing on thi...

Re: Recording what I hear

It is worth upgrading to Audacity 1.3.5 You do not have to uninstall 1.2.x first - you can have them both on your machine as long as you do not try to run both programs simultaneously. Audacity 1.2.x projects will work in Audacity 1.3.5 Audacity 1.3.x projects will NOT work in Audacity 1.2.x Informa...

Re: pitch change noise

In Audacity 1.3.5 the is no drop-out or hole, but but you may still notice a slight glitch as the way that the speed change works does not guarantee that the phase of the new processed audio will match the original. This can be minimised by choosing the start and end points with care (quiet moments,...

Re: MODS: EBAY GUY IS SELLING AUDACITY

This is one of those things that really annoys me too. The best thing to do is to tell all your friends about this wonderful free program. The more people know about this free, open source program, the less people will be sucked in by that kind of scam.

Re: Changing Import Quality (to 192 kbps or higher)

I think you have a slight misunderstanding. The "128kbps" setting in Audacity 1.2.x is not the quality that Audacity uses for recording or importing, but is the default quality setting when Exporting as mp3. Audacity (all versions) record uncompressed audio (like WAV). The quality of uncom...
