Re: Suggestions for a new cassette deck? (Really.)

I think you will be struggling to find anything as good as your old Nakamichi, they are just not being made any more. You can still get pretty good cassette decks, but at a price. For example: Dennon DN-780R 20 Hz - 18 kHz, ±3 dB (at –20 dB, metal tape ) SNR 74 dB (Dolby C on, 3 % THD by CCIR/ARM) D...

Re: How can I get 11k output?

Use the "Project Rate" box (lower left corner by default) to set the project rate. Your exported audio will then be converted to that rate when you Export.

Re: Wav files in Media Player cannot open

Let me guess, you're using Windows Media Player? I hate Windows Media Player - all that "phone back to Uncle Bill", DRM, "Let me check on-line for a Codec...oh there isn't one", "back up licenses".... Oh for goodness sake, I just want to play an audio file !!! So that's...

Re: Exported mp3 file is not recognized by Windows

1. If you have not already done so, download the LAME MP3 encoder to your computer and tell Audacity where to find it. Instructions on doing this are here. http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Lame_Installation 2. Look at the Project Rate button at the bottom left of the screen. If it is alr...

Re: Recording Volume was Too High!

Distortion is difficult to correct, but you may be able to make some improvement using the "ClipFix" plug-in. You will probably need to lower the level of the track before applying clipfix, so that there is some room for the "restored" peaks that were previously cut off in the re...

Re: vertical scroll missing?

You can not scroll within a single track, but you can grab the bottom of the track and stretch it larger - even bigger than full screen. With a very tall track you would be able to scroll up and down to see both the top, then the bottom of the wave. Alternatively, zoom in on the top, then zoom out, ...

Re: Tricks to increase the volume of certain instruments?

Do typical Mp3's even have separate audio tracks for each instrument, that can be edited separately? No, all the sounds are mixed together like the ingredients of a sponge cake. In the same way as you cannot remove an egg from a sponge cake, you cannot separate out the "ingredients" of yo...

Re: ??Batch split of mp3 possible??

In Audacity 1.3.x there is a limited amount of batch processing possible, but I don't think that this will include what you are wanting to do. Audacity is able to apply "Chains" of commands to either the current project, or to audio files. In the "File" menu you can select "...

Re: Transferring MD tracks to I-tunes library

Does your minidisk player have a USB connection to your computer? If so, then getting the Sony software working is the best option as this will be a digital transfer and probably better quality than going through your sound card. Laptops do not usually have a "Line In" socket, so plugging ...

Re: Voice delay in headphones when recording

When using a USB microphone, you must switch off "software playthrough" in "Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O". (This is off by default). This will mean that you cannot hear the microphone through your headphone, but that should not be a problem as you will be able to hear the live ...
