Re: Wine through headphones and speakers

You say "Wine through headphones and speakers" in the title, then "It could be from the hard disks, maybe the cooling fans, I'm not sure," in your message. If the sound was from a fan, or hard drive, then I would not expect the sound to come out through the speakers. Something I'...

Hi nzassman,

For clarity, we try to discourage "double posting" on the forum, so I've locked this topic and sent a reply to your other post. http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=6449

Re: Recording what I hear

This isn't strictly an audacity answer, so please tell me if I violated the forum rules by that I see nothing wrong with your reply. The moderators on this site will stamp pretty quickly on blatant, pointless, off topic advertising, but Audacity is not always the best tool for every job. In cases w...

Re: no audit with USB turntable in opensuse

Since you are getting red and green on the meters, I suspect that that flat line is not as flat as it looks. Try selecting the track, then use "Normalize" from the Effects menu and let me know what happens.

Re: Exported mp3 file is not recognized by Windows

I was trying to replace an existing filename rather than creating a new filename and I guess that was messing it up. Strange - that should not cause a problem. I've over-written mp3 files many times without this problem, so it's a bit of a mystery. I'm pleased it's working for you now (and that's t...

Re: TKs Taskbar Freeze Fix

Yes, sometimes it just gets stuck minimized. It's not an issue we have seen much of recently, so it seems that the current release (1.3.5) is less prone to this. I think it occurs when the Audacity launch icon is over clicked, causing Audacity to try and open two instances at the same time (it doesn...

Re: Reel-to-Reel speed problem

Firstly check the tape player. There is a pinch roller that regulates the tape speed, this gets dusty, hard and shiny over time. Clean it with pure alcohol (surgical spirits, IPA, or similar) and allow it to dry thoroughly before putting a tape in. Then test it with a known good tape. Assuming that ...

Re: Recording problem with audacity and others...

Your recording level is way too loud. You need to go to the Windows Mixer (loudspeaker icon near the system clock), find the record level settings and turn the record level down.

Re: Recording what I hear

How is the best way to convert it to mp3 ? I did get the Lame set up, but what are the specifics to convert ? http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=6393&p=25472#p25472 (and no, as with most things, Audacity must be stopped to do this), also, while playing the audacity project, ...
