Re: buzz when recording bass in audacity
What is different here is that in my case the exported .wav's retain the buzz Then this is a different issue. The problem in your case Fluxliner is that you have recorded too loud, so the recording is distorting. The waveform should never reach all the way to the top or bottom of the track. Always ...

Re: allow playback start close to playback cursor
Ah, sorry, I misread your post, I was clicking on the track, not the timeline. This is the way I would edit out an advert (in Audacity 1.3.5): 1) Select the region of the commercial (roughly) 2) Press the space-bar to start the playing. 3) if I need to adjust the start position, press the space-bar ...

Re: no audit with USB turntable in opensuse
Guess it was just my not knowing enough about how to drive audacity. That's about the size of it. Increasing the signal strength will probably take care of the noise problem as well. Check your USB turntable carefully and see if there is a volume knob on it - some have one on the bottom (underneath...

Re: buzz when recording bass in audacity
Are you recording just one track, or multi-tracking?
When you export the audio do you here the buzz?
What if you generate a low frequency wave - say a sine wave at 60 Hz and amplitude of 0.9 - does that buzz?

Re: Deploy MSI file?
Audacity needs to run locally (on the client, not on the server). The Audacity program folder needs to be copied to each computer on which it is to run. You then just need a link or shortcut on the client computers for launching the application.

Re: Recorded too loud, remove the excess?
Clipfix is available here: http://www.gaclrecords.org.uk/audacitydl.html
Download the .zip file, unzip it and put the .ny file in the Audacity plug-ins folder.
Unfortunately I do not think that it will help much in this particular case - the audio sample that you posted is just too badly damaged.
