Re: No sound no record both 1.3.3 and 1.3.4 on Ubuntu 7.1
I'm keen on getting Audacity 1.3.3 or 1.3.4 to work because I have saved project files from those versions of Audacity and Audacity has a bad habit of not running other version's project files. Besides, I can't understand why Audacity won't work on Ubuntu 7.10. I must be doing something really wron...

Re: Multiple devices?
Audacity can only record with a single device driver - it can not record from multiple devices (even if the multiple devices are in the same physical unit). Other programs usually get round this by using ASIO drivers. Unfortunately ASIO support is not included in the standard release due to licensin...

Re: chain \ batch : aup->norm->mp3
Yes and No. First the question of AUP's - these are NOT audio files. If you open up an AUP file in a text editor, you will see that it just contains a list of instructions - no audio data at all :o See here for an explanation of Audacity project files: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Fi...

Re: Using 2 MOTU Ultralites
With Audacity you can record up to 16 tracks simultaneously, providing that the hardware gives Audacity access through a single device driver. I'm guessing that your MOTU can each record 8 channels - If each device uses a single driver for all 8 channels, then Audacity will probably be able to recor...

Using 2 MOTU Ultralites
Hi. Am new to MOTU and sound recording. Have two MOTU Ultralites that am trying to record through Audacity. When daisy chained, however, both appear under 'prefs' and 'recording devices.' Is there ANY way I can use these to record 16 channels? Starting the program twice, etc? Any tricks? Many thank...

Re: Which Reel to Reel
Also check out the tape heads - they should be completely smooth across the playing/recording surface. If there is a 1/4" groove in the tape head, then that is a sign of many years of use, and he wear will have a detrimental effect on the sound quality. I have 2 Sony machines - one has a groove...

Re: no input selector
but there is never an input selector. You mean in the "Device Toolbar? That's not unusual - I had the same issue with Audacity 1.3.4 in Xubuntu, but selecting the device in "Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O" worked. Also worth noting that I am finding Audacity 1.3.5 to be a lot more st...

Re: buzz when recording bass in audacity
I'm afraid you've got me beat on this one glaukopes. You say that a recording from Audacity play with a buzz in Audacity, but when played back in a media player on the same machine, same headphones/speakers, same sound card and same drivers, that it plays without the buzz. Sorry, I can't explain it ...
