Re: Whats the best way to record my bass guitar with my amp?

If you have a desktop PC, you will need an external microphone pre-amp. Connect the microphone to the pre-amp microphone input and connect the pre-amp output to the LINE IN of your computer sound card. You can use a mixing desk instead of the microphone pre-amp if you have a mixing desk with microph...

Re: Recorded tracks saved but gone 1.2.5 OSX 10.4.11

Unless you can describe a step by step method to reliably reproduce this problem it is going to be very difficult to pin down (also the chap that deals with most of the Mac questions is away at the moment). The first thing that comes to mind is available disk space. Check your free disk space before...

Re: Intermittent echo in track...only on some .aup files

I see no obvious reason for the problem. Try this and see if the problem persists: Download and install Audacity 1.3.5 Set the default audio format to 16 bit 44100 Hz (Click on the Edit menu and select Preferences, then look in the "Audio I/O" tab and the "Quality" tab. Now recor...

Re: No playback from Audacity

I'm running Vista, which I'd suspect as the issue, Yes, I suspect it is as well. Apparently Vista has "Improved audio controls allow the system-wide volume or volume of individual audio devices and even individual applications to be controlled separately ." Look in the Windows Control Pan...

Re: Change of tempo with cut and paste

Cutting and pasting from one track to another is a completely unnecessary procedure. Unlike many audio editors, Audacity is designed as a multi-track application. If you have "sample A" on track 1 and you want "sample B" on track 2 to play after "sample A", just use the...

Re: Microphone problem! Please help!

Is it maybe my soundcard USB microphones bypass the computer sound card - they do not use it at all. Connect the USB microphone to your computer BEFORE you open Audacity. It is important that Windows has recognised and connected the microphone before Audacity is started. Make sure that you have the...

Re: Changing bit rate to 44.1 Hz to use on Second Life

Use the "Project Rate" box.
By default this is in the lower left corner of the main Audacity window in the "Selection Toolbar"

When you Export from Audacity, your recording sample rate will be converted (magically?) to the project rate.

Re: Changing the pitch (woman's into a man's voice?)

Audacity 1.3.5 (beta) has 3 related effects. Change Speed... This changes the playback speed of the selected audio (by re-sampling the data). Both the speed and the pitch will change. Increasing the speed will make speech sound like a fast chipmunk. Lowering the speed will sound like an overgrown mu...
