Re: Using zero crossings function
The function seems to do something but I cannot figure out how move from one zero crossing to the next. Can anyone point me in the right direction? It does do something, but at the moment it doesn't do it very well. I find it easiest to not use it, but instead, use "Ctrl+Mouse Wheel" to z...

Re: Voice Recorders
"Excessive clipping" is caused by having the recording level set too high for the sound that is being recorded. Catching the microphone with your breath can also cause similar problems, usually sounding like loud "pops", so you need to avoid that - if using the microphone close u...

For some reason I couldn't find the audacity.cfg file in the Audacity folder That's because it isn't in the Audacity folder. It's here: Documents and Settings<user name>Application DataAudacity audacity.cfg You may also need to turn on "show hidden files" ( http://www.microsoft.com/window...

Re: Exporting a stereo file to MP3
So PowerGramo produces a stereo file with one voice on the left, and the other voice on the right? And you want both voices in the middle, or at least nearer to the middle? If I've got that right: Open or Import the file into Audacity Click on the name of the track, and from the drop down menu, sele...

Re: No Stereo Mix or Line In with SoundMax HD
A non-ideal way round the problem is to get an audio lead with a stereo mini-jack at each end so that you can connect the headphone output to the microphone input. If you do this, open up the Windows Mixer BEFORE you plug it in, then when Audacity is running, activate the record meters (click on it)...

Re: Lost Audio while using Audacity.
Something that will probably help straight away is making file extensions visible (the dot and three letters after the file name). I'm guessing that when you look at an audio file on your computer it just says " filename " instead of " filename.wav " or " filename.wma "...

Re: Mike wont work and cant play files
seemed to be that I had both the mike and speakers turned up in Audacity and this is what was giving the the racket in the mikes as the sounds must have been on a loop between mike and speakers. :D I think I hinted on that a while ago (If you get a loud whistle or beep type sound from your speakers...

Re: High speed clicks afterrecording new tacks
To save future confusion, uninstall Audacity 1.2.4 first. You can probably uninstall from "Add Remove Programs" in the Windows Control Panel" If not, then look in the Audacity folder (in the "Programs Files" directory) and there should be an "uninstall" file. If th...

Re: Mike wont work and cant play files
Usually there is a loudspeaker icon in the bottom right corner of your desktop (near the clock). If you can find that, try double clicking on it, or right-clicking on it. If you don't have the loudspeaker icon, you will need to go into the Windows Control Panel and open up "Sound and Audio Devi...

Re: How To Convert Audio Cassette or LP to CD
That's a pretty decent step-by-step guide. The thing that I would disagree with, is that if you want to make a CD, then you shouldn't really be exporting in MP3 format. MP3 is a "lossy" compression format that reduces the sound quality compared to an uncompressed WAV. For making a standard...
