my CD-R discs wont work on any of my players and even in Windows Explorer there are no files to be found on the discs. What software are you using to burn your CD's? You need to be making Audio CD's rather than Data CD's, but are you even able to burn data CD's so that they work on your computer? (...

"directx wrapper-plug" is a plug-in for some other audio software, it is not designed for, and does not work in Audacity.
Has this issue occurred with a clean install of Audacity, or have you also installed additional plug-ins?

Combing them onto the same track the interview sounds normal, the music sounds like a half dozen mice who drank a thousand cups of coffee.
