Re: problems recording audio (live stream)
Well i'm not sure what i did exactly, but i tried recording it for the umpteenth time and it worked perfectly! Perhaps Windows update was busy using up your cpu, or perhaps a virus scan, or something like that. You need to watch out for background processes hogging your computer resources while you...

Re: Trouble recording second track
I believe that you are recording both tracks using a microphone? You may need to adjust the recording level before recording the second track. To set the level, click on the recording meter so that it comes to life, and look at how high it moves up while you play / sing. Ideally it should peak at ar...

Re: Software playthrough
As WC said. Also, most sound cards on Windows machines can play back audio while you are recording, all in hardware. This is very much faster than software playthrough and works well. When using software playthrough, the sound that is being recorded is sent back to the playback device by the softwar...

Re: Can't import flac
Try upgrading to Audacity 1.3.5
There have been some important changes in FLAC that may not be supported by Audacity 1.3.3
If you need information about a particular audio files format, the free format converter SUPER (by erightsoft) has an excellent analysis tool in it.

Re: Windows restarts when trying to record
The very top line of audacity.cfg mentioned version 1.3.5. I have both 1.3.5 and 1.2.6 and assumed they were independent, but the audacity.cfg is clearly in a common location and shared between the two. The audacity.cfg file is only used by Audacity v.1.3.x Audacity 1.2.x uses the windows registry....

Re: problems recording audio (live stream)
Well that looks like the problem, but I don't know what you should do about it. Audacity will have a real problem trying to run with only 5% of your CPU.danthebangerboy wrote:The only thing i have noticed is that when i am on the web page with the music playing, Internet explorer is using about 95% of my CPU power

Re: Recording problems
When you say "it still doesn't work" - is it exactly the same as before?
(i.e. recording at a very low level).
I've got some information missing here, but I'm not sure what - it's like trying to do a jigsaw without all the pieces - not your fault, I'm sure you are trying

Re: Adding Bookmarks Externally
This sounds like a very interesting project. I had been using an old version of audacity (1.2.6) and that hadn't got import labels, only export. You have posted in a 1.3.x section of the forum (see "Forum Index ‹ Audacity Unstable (1.3.x) ‹ Windows" at top of the page). Audacity 1.3.5 has ...

Re: Recording problems
I've edited your picture (cropped it) so that it fits on the page better. If I recall correctly, you were wanting to record some YouTube videos? To do that, you need to record from "Stereo Mix", but it looks like you have the "Microphone" selected as the recording source. In the ...

Re: Audacity karaoke question
Here is an example set up: To record simultaneously an external CD player, and external keyboard, two microphones (for you and a friend to sing at the same time, and an external electronic drum kit. For this, we shall assume that you are using a 12 channel firewire mixing desk (mixing console) that ...
