Re: Making good, consistent Voiceover recordings

1) Is there a good way to get a consistent volume level across multiple tracks? When you have words like "Attack!!", there will be some high amplitude peaks in the sound. When you have words like"Hello, stranger", the level will be much more even. When you use "Normalize&qu...

Re: File Size Limitations?

WAV files are limited to 4GB http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WAV Audacity 1.3.x does not itself have any file size limits, though some users have reported problems with recordings that last more than 12 hours. A common reason for missing audio in Audacity projects is due to the user being overly tidy a...

Re: Recording RCA out into Laptop

"Line level" is a relatively high level signal (in the order of 1volt) that is commonly used for sending audio signals between one piece of audio equipment and another. For example, the output of a cassette deck, or a CD deck will be approximately line level. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L...

Re: how can i control where a copied clip gets pasted?

1.3.5 is the beta version - there's a few bugs in it, but not many, and they can mostly be worked around. Personally I find the benefits of 1.3.5 to greatly outweigh the bug issues. Note also, that not all of the known bugs affect all machines, but if you intend to do any serious production work wit...

Re: Trouble recording second track

Have a look in the record settings for your sound card and see if there is a selector for the microphone to apply a +20dB boost (there often is). I don't think that I'm going to be able to help you get really good recordings - Pigs ears and silk purses... So you will just have to try and coax the be...

Re: Can't import flac

That's odd. I don't use FLAC very often, but whenever I have I've had no problems.
Try downloading this short file and see if audacity can import it correctly:

Re: lame_enc.dll

Audacity 1.3.5 does support VNR BUT there is a problem with it in 1.3.5 (the format that you select is not always the format that you get). It is always a good idea to keep a backup copy of your work as uncompressed WAV in case you ever want to do any more editing, or change the compression settings...

Re: [issue]constant jack connections

It could be that the devs of Audacity have a good reason for this behavior, we didn't think of... so a reaction would be nice... I don't think that is the case. There have been a problems using Audacity with JACK for as long as I know. There are several issues that contribute to it not being fixed,...

Download this file: http://easyspacepro.com/audacity/exampl ... ckward.mp3
(Right click and "Save As")

Open Audacity and Import it from the Project menu. ("Import Audio...")

Does that import as stereo?
