You mean the next beta version (Audacity 1.3.6)? No date set as far as I know - just keep an eye out on the Main Audacity web site. I believe the current date for 1.4.0 is some time next spring - that could change though.

I think it should work, but you need to monitor from the M-Audio, not your on-board sound card. Also, in "Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O", switch off "software playthrough".
